The Competency-Based Curriculum began to be implemented in the Medical Education stage since 2007 with changes in 2013 and 2018 by implementing the Problem Based Learning method based on blocks. Students learn in spiral stages starting from Phase 1, namely General Education in first blockof  first semester. Phase 2 regarding normal systems carried out in second block of first semester to seventh block of third semester. Phase 3 regarding the health-sick process carried out in eighth block  of third semester up to tenth block of fourth semester. Phase 4 concerning the research phase is carried out in eleventh block of fourth semester in the form of research methodology blocks; Phase 5 concerning health and environmental disorders containing complaints and diseases (abnormal systems) is carried out in twelfth block of fifth semester to twenty first block of seventh semester. For example, students learn basic empathy in the first semester and then study advanced empathy in seventh semester about empathy when delivering breaking bad news.

Clinical Medicine stage began in eighth to eleventh semester. That is a competency-based clinical clerkship stage, covering clinical professions, industrial medicine, Islamic medicine, community medicine and integrated medicine including Interprofessional Education (IPE).
